Sereno’s 1% For Good Charitable Foundation has surpassed $100,000 donated to nonprofit organizations serving San Luis Obispo County, marking a significant milestone in local community giving supported by real estate transactions in the region.
At a time when many local nonprofits are facing increased demand and tighter budgets, the milestone highlights how locally directed funding can provide consistent, year-round support for organizations serving San Luis Obispo County residents.
Through Sereno’s 1% For Good initiative, a portion of each real estate transaction is set aside to fund quarterly grants for nonprofit organizations making a meaningful impact in the communities where Sereno operates. In San Luis Obispo County, these grants have supported organizations working in areas such as food security, youth mentorship, arts and cultural access, health services, housing stability and community support.
Local giving has increased year over year, totaling $33,398 in 2023, $34,362 in 2024, and more than $48,500 in 2025 alone, bringing total San Luis Obispo County support to more than $116,000.
“For local nonprofits, consistent funding makes a real difference,” said Lindsey Harn of the Lindsey Harn Group. “What makes 1% For Good meaningful is that it’s built into everyday business, allowing real estate activity to directly support the organizations serving our community.”
In 2025, Sereno’s 1% For Good Charitable Foundation awarded $47,500 in grants to San Luis Obispo County organizations. Recipients included Jack’s Helping Hand, the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art, the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County, Woods Humane Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Luis Obispo County, Hospice of San Luis Obispo County and other organizations focused on equity, access, and community well-being.
“We are incredibly grateful to Sereno 1% For Good for their generous support,” said Garrett Olson, Chief Executive Officer of the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County. “This support helps us bring fresh, healthy meals to families across San Luis Obispo County, ensuring they have reliable access to food.”
Sereno’s 1% For Good Charitable Foundation was established to support nonprofit organizations in the communities where Sereno operates. Since 2012, the foundation has donated more than $6 million to over 510 organizations.
